It was constructed under the reign of Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in 1631-32. The ornate white marble pavilion is inlaid with pietra dura and complex mirror-work of the finest quality. The hall was reserved for personal use by the imperial family and close aides. It is among the 21 monuments that were built by successive Mughal emperors inside Lahore Fort, and forms the jewel in the Fort’s crown. As part of the larger Lahore Fort Complex, it has been inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1981.

The sheesh mahal was built by a famous architect of mughals. It was built in the middle of Akbar’s rule. The facade, consisting of five cusped marble arches supported by coupled columns, opens into the courtyard. The engrailed spandrels and bases are inlaid with precious stones. The pavilion is in the form of a semi-octagon, and consists of apartments roofed with gilded cupolas and intricately decorated with pietra dura and convex glass and mirror mosaic (ayina kari) with thousands of small mirrors. The decorative features also include stucco tracery (munabat kari) and carved marble screens in geometrical and tendril designs. The roof of the central hall rises up to two storeys. The hall was originally decorated with fresco paintings that were later replaced with glass mosaic in different colours.

The lake is located a little short of the place where the Urak Valley begins and 10 km from Quetta. The greenish-blue waters of the lake provide a rich contrast to the sandy brown of the hills in the background.

Golden fish in the lake comes swimming right up to the edge of the lake. There is a lakeside restaurant with picnic tables shaded by pine trees. At one end, the irrigation dam rises out of the depths like battlements of a fort.

However, in 2011 the lake re-filled and once again gave rise to flora and fauna in its environment. The turquoise waters of the lake provide a rich contrast to the sandy brown of the hills in the background. One can promenade on the terraces or hire a boat and paddle on the lake and round the island in the middle.

Urak is a valley surrounded by mountains in the province of Balochistan in Pakistan. It is located near Hana Lake, and 21 kilometres from Quetta city. This valley is used for growing apple trees of good quality. It has a small waterfall in the end from where the Wali Tangi valley begins. The Pashtun owners of the apple garden are very strict about the plucking of apples from the trees; the tourists may view and purchase the apples but may not pluck them from the trees, in case they may fine the tourists more than Rs.500

ISLAMABAD– Cash-starved government in a desperate bid Tuesday added to the miseries of the already overburdened consumers by increasing the prices of POL products up to six per cent while a surcharge up to Rs 14.70 per mmbtu was also imposed on CNG with immediate effect.Though Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra), in a bid to benefit the consumers, has recommended the government to maintain the POL prices by reducing the petroleum levy, yet the Finance Ministry, turning down the recommendations of Ogra, has approved further hike in the already sky-high prices of POL products from three to six per cent. Similarly, Ogra had recommended no increase in gas prices but were overruled by the Federal Government.According to Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority’s notification pertaining the prices of petroleum oil and lubricants (POL) for the current month, a further hike of Rs 5.37 per litre in motor gasoline (petrol), high octane blended component (HOBC) Rs 6.29 per litre, high speed diesel (HSD) Rs4.64 per litre, light diesel oil (LDO) Rs 3.43 per litre and kerosene Rs 2.78 per litre has been given this time. Moreover, Finance Ministry has jacked up the ratio of petroleum levy (PL) on HSD by Rs 1.32 per litre. Resultantly, the PL on HSD has reached a high level of Rs6.50 per litre. It is to note here that in accordance with upward trend of oil prices in the international market, the price of HSD was likely to go up by Rs3.11 per litre. After this recent surge, new price of petrol has reached at Rs 94.91 per litre, HOBC Rs 118.20 per litre, HSD Rs 103.46 per litre, kerosene oil Rs 92.02 per litre and the per litre price of LDO has touched Rs 90.21 per litre.Meanwhile, petroleum ministry has issued a notification of imposition of 10 per cent gas infrastructure development surcharge on compressed natural gas (CNG) with effect from today (1st February).Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority has issued a notification pertaining to the revised prices of the CNG after the issuance of notification from ministry of petroleum and natural resources with effect from start of the February. According to the notification of the ministry, a surcharge worth Rs 14.70 per mmbtu has been imposed on the regions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan and Potohar while Rs 7.90/mmbtu has been decided to impose on Sindh and Punjab regions. In this way, with an increase of 71 paisa, the price of CNG in the region one has touched a record high level of Rs74.29 per kilogram while after this hike of 36 paisa for region two, CNG will be available at Rs 69.60/kg in this region. It is worth mentioning that government had reduced 10 per cent surcharge on 4th January succumbing to the pressure of CNG association’s countrywide strike.

Amir Khan’s camp has announced that the British boxer plans an inquiry with sanctioners over the performance of referee Joe Cooper and the ringside judges after his controversial defeat to Lamont Peterson.

Khan said after his majority decision loss that he felt robbed. Referee Joe Cooper deducted points from Khan for pushing in the seventh and 12th rounds.
Team Khan and Golden Boy Promotions issued a statement in which they outlined plans to challenge the verdict.

“We intend to make inquiries with the District of Columbia Boxing and Wrestling Commission, the IBF and the WBA regarding the performance of the referee and will also be seeking clarification regarding ambiguities with respect to the scores of the fight,” said the promoters.

The result took longer than normal to announce after the final round and when it was finally uttered, the score from the judge who favored Khan was not that which appeared on his scorecard.

Meanwhile, Khan appears to be on the verge of agreeing to a rematch after his manager Asif Vali said he had received an offer from his opposite number.

“Barry Hunter [Peterson’s manager] offered me a rematch after the fight,” Vali told The Times. “He said, ‘It was a great fight, let’s do it again.’ I’m sure he’ll stick to his word. We’ll do it as Amir’s next fight straightaway.
