It was Major James Abbott who planned & administered Abbotabad city in 1847. He was a british major & serves as a deputy commissioner of the city at that time. abbotabad is the most beautiful & 3rd largest city in (NWFP) Pakistan. surrounded by hills covered with pine trees it is famous for its pleasant weather & no pollution. In summers you can enjoy the breathtaking view of the city from hills, specially a hill point called shimla pahari. Ilyasi masjid, in particular is one of the historical mosque in abbotabad, it is situated in Nawanshehr a small town in abbotabad. Ilyasi masjid is famous for its delicious pakoras & the fresh natural stream of water. You can also enjoy hiking at the track located behind the masjid. Note that photography is prohibited inside the masque so ask the caretaker of the mosque if you want to take some photos.
