January 4: Salmaan Taseer, the governor of Punjab, is shot by one of his bodyguards near his home. Taseer dies of his wounds soon afterwards.His killer, Malik Mumtaz Qadri  disagreed with Taseer’s opposition to Pakistan’s blasphemy law. Salmaan Taseer wasbusinessman and politician who served as the 26th governor of the province of Punjab from 2008 until his assassination in early 2011. He was member of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP). Taseer was also the chairman and CEO of the First Capital and Worldcall Group.

PIA:Two more planes grounded..

A number of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) aircraft’s are out of operation due to unavailability of spare parts and other technical issues, due to which the entire flight schedule of the national flag carrier has been severely disturbed.
Today  two more aircraft’s were grounded after which a total of 14 planes are non-operational now. Currently three Boeing 747, two 777, two 737, five Airbus A310 and two ATR aircraft’s are non-operational. Several national and international flights have been cancelled or are delayed …

Boxing: Amir Khan plans inquiry after shock loss

Amir Khan’s camp has announced that the British boxer plans an inquiry with sanctioners over the performance of referee Joe Cooper and the ringside judges after his controversial defeat to Lamont Peterson.
Khan said after his majority decision loss that he felt robbed. Referee Joe Cooper deducted points from Khan for pushing in the seventh and 12th rounds.

Obama calls Iran to give back downed US drone

President Barack Obama is pressing his request that Iran return the U.S. surveillance drone captured by the country’s armed forces.
Obama said he wouldn’t comment “on intelligence matters that are classified.” But, he said during a White House news conference with Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki that the U.S. wants the top-secret aircraft back. “We have asked for it back. We’ll see how the Iranians respond,” Obama said.

Pakistani girl world record in ”O” Level

Brilliant young girl Sitara Akbar, who is only 11 years old and a resident of Chiniot, set a world record by passing O-level English, Mathmatics and Science.
This is not the first time that the eleven-year-old girl from Chanab area of Chiniot had dazzled the world with her brilliance. She had passed O-level Chemistry in nine years of age, hitting a record in Pakistan.
